Monotropa uniflora The
Indian Pipe is a waxy white plant with several stems supporting a
single, nodding, cup-shaped, white to pinkish flower. The entire
plant darkens in color with age.
Found in deciduous woods and shady places in central and
northern Florida, it lacks the pigment chlorophyll necessary for
photosynthesis and obtains nourishment from living and decaying
plants.
