Now that CP-3
is history and we’ve had two days of fun and caching it’s time to
give back to Jonathan Dickinson State Park. That is what a CITO is
all about.

Several options were discussed with the park staff
and we have selected to do one of our favorite things, some yard
work.
The Event will begin at 9:30 AM and run till noon
or until we finish.
We will be clearing back a natural looking buffer
along both sides of the boardwalk at Hobe Mountain. We will
begin at the top clearing out around the tower and then work down
both sides of the walk. There really isn’t anything too large
to clear so we will be using lopping shears and hand shears to cut
it back.

You will need
to bring your own gloves. If you have lopping shears and or
hand shears please bring them with you as the park cannot supply
all of us with them. I will have several tarps to toss the
clippings in. Those not cutting will be hauling them down to
the parking lot.
If we get a lot of participation then we should be
able to finish the job in a few hours. If we don’t finish it
we will schedule another CITO in a few weeks to get the job
done. Like they say many hands make light work.
Let’s make it happen folks

Thanks to everyone who made this a huge success. Leave it to Geocachers to attack the flora and fauna with such abandon. The plants didn't have a chance. It was our turn to get back at those nasty saw palmettos for all the blood they've spilled over the years in this park. Well done. BUTTERDISH

A great way to end another great Cacheapalooza weekend. Everyone was working so hard and made a great impact on the boardwalk. That place looked great by the time everyone was done. Great Work!! See you all next time!!!

Day 3 of Cacheapalooza3
First stop of the day!! When we got there lots of Geocachers were chopping away at all the branches and bushes. This sweet young girl was giving directions and passing out water. I could not believe my eyes at how fast everyone was moving up the hill. Paul went right to work cutting and throwing branched and trees! I couldn't do much so I took tons of pictures and watched with amazement. The Geocachers that helped clear this area are with out a doubt the heart and spirit of what all people should be!!!!! Great job everyone!!

I will be there but we might need a Natural Area Specialist to help other cachers on identifying protected rare plants. I would hate for someone to cut these plants by accident. I know there are a ton of rare plants in the area. -footTRAX
